Is Eta free?

Yes. Eta is free and open source under the MIT license. You bring your own AI account or API key; model usage is billed by your provider.

Which platforms does Eta run on?

Desktop installers support Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and Windows x64. Windows command execution requires Git for Windows and does not support restricted sandboxing. The iOS and Android companion connects to a self-hosted Eta Bot.

Do I need an account?

You do not need a separate Eta account. Connect an AI account or API key from your chosen model provider to get started.

Does work continue when I close the app?

Local work needs the desktop app running. Tasks and schedules on a self-hosted Eta Bot continue on your server when you disconnect.

Can I extend Eta?

Yes. Add skills with reusable instructions for your workflows, and use subagents to delegate focused tasks.
